Type 9 Class Shuttle

The Type 9 shuttlecraft, also referred to as a Class 2 shuttle, was a short-range auxiliary space vessel used by Starfleet in the mid-to-late 24th century.

As a successor to the Class 1 shuttle, these short-range vessels were primarily used for away missions and by Starfleet Academy as a training ship. Fast and maneuverable, the standard Type 9 had a top speed of warp 4. They were equipped with shields, and a weapons array consisting of phaser banks and photon torpedoes. However, these shuttles were capable of being quickly modified to upgrade warp and shielding capabilities.

The main body consisted of a fuselage and a port and starboard nacelle attached via pylons. An entry hatch to the rear of the cockpit permitted access to the shuttle's interior. Standard equipment included tractor beam, transporter, inertial dampers, comm system, optical scanners, and structural integrity field.
