Type 6A Class Shuttle

The Type 6A shuttlecraft was a warp-capable Federation shuttle that was in service to Starfleet during the late 24th century.

The Type 6A was similar in appearance to the Type 8, but closer in size to the Type 4. Coolant intake compressors were located on either side of the upper aft quarter. The plasma transfer subsystem and primary field generators were located in the nacelles and the navigational deflectors were located on the shuttle's bow. By the 2380s some had also been equipped with an advanced type of blast shield.

The interior consisted of a standard cockpit with seating for two and a small cabin in the aft, allowing an overall crew capacity of approximately eight. Entry was through a large hatch in the rear of the craft, with two additional hatches located on both sides behind the pilot chairs. These shuttles were equipped with a replicator, but it was not solely relied upon in an emergency, so a supply of emergency rations was also stored onboard as well.
